Join STOPAIDS at The Curzon, Victoria for an exclusive pre-screening of ground-breaking new film, Pili. The film will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s producer, HIV professionals and activists.
PILI is a ground-breaking collaboration between the filmmakers and the women of Miono, Tanzania whose real stories the film is based upon and who make up the ensemble cast of non-actors, 65% of whom are HIV positive.
The film follows the story of Pili, a woman living in rural Tanzania who works in the fields for less than $2 a day to feed her two children while struggling to keep her HIV positive status secret. When she is offered the chance to rent a sought-after market-stall, Pili is desperate to have it. But with only two days to get the deposit together, Pili is forced to make increasingly difficult decisions with ever deepening consequences.
