To coincide with the start of the UN High-Level Meeting on HIV & AIDS, STOPAIDS has joined over 140 cross-party MPs and leaders in the HIV response in writing to the UK Government.
Our letter warns that whilst other Governments will be ramping up their leadership for the HIV response, with making significant cuts to the aid budget, the UK risks stepping away from its historic leadership position at a critical time in the fight to end AIDS.
The letter urges the Government to repair the impact of the HIV cuts by announcing supplementary allocations; continuing as a leading donor to key agencies; and committing to returning to the 0.7% aid spending commitment.
