The 1st December marks World AIDS Day, an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. We remember the millions who have who died from AIDS-related illnesses, stand in solidarity with those living and affected by HIV and strengthen our commitment to fighting HIV and ending AIDS.

The theme of this year’s World AIDS day is ‘Equalize’. Data from UNAIDS on the global HIV response reveals that during the last two years of COVID-19 and other global crises, progress against the HIV pandemic has faltered, resources have shrunk, and millions of lives are at risk as a result. Four decades into the HIV response, inequalities still persist for the most basic services like testing, treatment, and condoms, and even more so for new technologies. This years slogan “Equalize” is a call to address and overcome the inequalities which perpetuate the AIDS pandemic. For more information visit the World AIDS Day section of UNAIDS’ website.

This year, STOPAIDS has a number of exciting World AIDS Day activities that you can get involved in. You can view these here. Please keep an eye on this page as we update this page regularly in the lead up to the 1st December.
