The Inclusive Global Health Institutions Project is co-hosted by WACI Health, Global Fund Advocates Network (GFAN), Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+) and STOPAIDS. The Project aims to increase, and support, the meaningful participation of civil society and communities in decision-making and governance structures and to link to broader work towards inclusive governance models.

The Project was established in April 2023, building on the three years of work of the Platform for ACT-A Civil Society and Community Representatives. This Platform (hosted by WACI Health, GFAN and STOPAIDS between 2020-2023) provided systematic representation of civil society and communities across all pillars and working groups of the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-A), increasing it’s accountability and effectiveness and providing a model for ensuring strong standards of meaningful involvement of civil society and communities in global health initiatives. More information about the Platform ACT-A Civil Society and Community Representatives can be found here.

Key areas of work include:

Co-developing the Principles of Meaningful Involvement of Communities and Civil Society in Global Health Governance

The Principles for the Meaningful Involvement of Communities and Civil Society in Global Health Governance are a best practice guide for all stakeholders in global health. They aim to ensure the expertise and lived experience of civil society and communities are recognised and respected and that their voices and power in decision making processes is formalised to ensure more effective and representative governance structures.

The principles are co-developed endorsed by the community and civil society delegations to Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Unitaid, Stop TB Partnership, Gavi, Global Financing Facility, UNAIDS and Pandemic Fund
